Sponge City envisions the future archipelago of a New York City mitigating and adapting to climate change’s impacts on the urban fabric by examining and organizing the city sectionally, rather than planimetrically. It projects 80 years into the future to propose possible public-private relationships, infrastructures both physical and social, and drastic changes to the waterfront and high grounds in Brooklyn and Queens. A pamphlet was created to describe the project’s scope; the new zoning (Opportunity, Intermediate, Dynamic), and the operations and design insertions proposed at each.
